Your First Visit

Before your first visit, we’ll ask you to fill out a client consent form. You can save time by printing and completing this form before your arrival.

Expect your first visit at West Broadway Dentist to take approximately two hours. We like for you to spend one hour with the dentist and another hour with a dental hygienist. If your schedule has time constraints, we can schedule these visits for two separate days. We understand the demands on your time, and we strive to offer convenient solutions that will make it as easy as possible for you to get the dental care you need.

On your first visit, we will take photos, X-rays, and an iTero scan of your mouth. This helps us create a detailed digital record of your dental health. If you have recently visited another dentist, we can transfer your files from that location to avoid any unnecessary X-rays. Once we have collected these scans, we’ll review the images with you, so you can see a clear picture of your mouth’s health both inside and out.

We prefer to use a conservative approach to all dental treatments, carefully observing your teeth between treatments to adjust and adapt your treatments as needed. We’ll continue to review your scans and files with you throughout your treatment plan to ensure that you feel comfortable with all stages of the process.

At West Broadway Dentist, we work hard to make sure our patients always have a clear understanding of what’s going on. You should feel like you’re getting the services you need and the treatments you want, with nothing unnecessary added.

Our Fee Structure

We use the BCDA fee guide for our pricing structure, so you will always enjoy highly competitive fees for your dental services. The BCDA Fee Guide is updated annually to reflect inflation and changes in labour costs. Reviewing this guide will give you a solid understanding of what you can expect to pay for your dental services. If you have any questions, we’re happy to go over the details of this pricing structure with you.

Dental Insurance and Payments

West Broadway Dentist accepts all insurance plans and provides direct billing for all plans except NIHB. You are responsible for your portion of the treatment cost at the end of each visit. When we first establish a treatment plan for you, we will sit down and review the necessary steps and expenses associated with each stage of the process. We work hard to demystify dental care and make it as easy as possible for you to take good care of your smile.

Post-Care Tips

You may experience some discomfort or swelling after a visit to the dentist. Though we work hard to make your visit as comfortable as possible, gums and teeth that haven’t had regular cleanings may be sensitive after receiving even routine care. It is important to follow all your dentist’s recommendations for taking care of your teeth going forward. This includes:
Using fluoridated toothpaste
Brushing at least twice a day
Flossing your teeth daily
Limiting sugary foods and acidic drinks
Keeping up with regular cleanings and care — we recommend routine cleanings every six months.
If you’ve had dental surgery, you may experience pain or bleeding, particularly in the first 24 to 48 hours after your visit. Rest as much as you can, and use over-the-counter painkillers as recommended by your dentist. Avoid hot liquids, particularly if you’ve had gauze placed in your mouth.

If you have bleeding that doesn’t ease after four hours, or pain that doesn’t get better within 48 hours, call West Broadway Dentist. We can advise you on the best way to handle these issues and schedule follow-up care as necessary.

At West Broadway Dentist, we put your comfort and happiness above all else. You’ll leave your appointment with the knowledge you need to take care of your smile now and enjoy optimum oral health in the future.
